The Winter CLASSic is a group fitness class challenge that encourages participants to complete 15 group fitness classes in 30 days. Energize your winter routine by trying new classes, pushing your limits, and connecting with the FFC community. For each class to count, please make sure you register and check in via the FFC+ app!

Challenge Dates
January 15, 2025 – February 13, 2025
You must opt in between January 8 – January 22, 2025.

How It Works

1. Opt-in – To confirm participation, visit the ‘My Dash’ screen on the FFC+ app and select ‘JOIN NOW’ on the pop up banner that asks if you’d like to participate. Please note, you must opt-in between 1/08-1/22.

2. Participate in Group Fitness Classes – Attend a minimum of 15 group fitness classes during the challenge dates. For each class to count, you must register and check in to class via the FFC+ app!

3. Stay Motivated – Grab your friends and family to join the fun and sweat it out with your favorite instructors.

4. Track Your Progress – Keep tabs on your progress in the “My Dash” section of the FFC+ app. The Class Checkins metric will be red until you hit 15 classes, then it will turn green.

What’s The Prize?

The first 500 participants that attend 15 group fitness classes and complete the challenge will receive a FFC beanie!

For each class to count, please make sure you register and check in for every class via the FFC+ app! Please note: your location services setting on your phone must be turned ‘ON’ in order to check in to a class. To change your location services setting, go to the settings app on your phone – privacy – location services.

Helpful hints for checking into class via the FFC+ app:

  • You must be registered for the class in order to check in for it.
  • You can only check into a class within 2 hours of the start time.
  • You must be at the club to check in to the class.
  • You’ll see the class check in on the same screen that appears when you click “Check In” on the homepage to check into the club.
  • You must be connected to cellular or wifi for the check-in to appear.
  • If your font is set too large on your screen, it can push the check-in button out of view!
  • Location services must be on your device AND on for the FFC+ app specifically.
  • Please be sure you have the most recent update for the app. To do so, head to the app store for FFC+ – if you don’t have the most recent version, there will be a button that says “update”.
  • Try turning off the WiFi and just use cellular data.

Participants must ‘opt-in’ to the challenge via the FFC+ app by January 22, 2025 to confirm participation. Prizes will be distributed by February 28, 2025. Only the first 500 members to complete the challenge will receive a prize.

Indoor Triathlon

Come join us for the 2025 FFC Indoor Triathlon Series, powered by Grit Endurance! This is a great opportunity for athletes of all levels, from beginners to advanced. Whether you are looking to complete your first triathlon in a controlled environment or challenge yourself to improve your performance, this race is for you!

Race Dates and Locations:

  • Saturday, January 18 at 8:00 AM AND Saturday, March 8 at 8:00 AM
  • FFC Union Station (444 W. Jackson Blvd., Chicago, IL, 60606)
  • $75 per person for one race | $125 per person for both races – To register, visit the group fitness section in FFC+ app, set your club location to Union Station, then choose the date of the event from the calendar.

What’s included with your race entry:

  • Finisher’s Certificate
  • $15 off a Grit Endurance Swim Lesson
  • $15 off a FFC massage

Race structure:

  • 10-minute pool swim
  • 15-minute transition to spin bikes
  • 30-minute bike
  • 5-minute transition to treadmills
  • 20-minute run

How it will work and FAQs:

  • Waves of 4 athletes will start the race every 25-minutes, beginning at 8:00 AM. Your wave time will be first come first serve based on your registration order (i.e, the first 4 registrants start at 8:00 AM, next 4 at 8:25 AM, etc.)
  • Athletes will have access to the pool for 15 minutes prior to their wave to warm up
  • Race results will be based on total distance covered during the swim, bike and run portions based on the following weighting system:
    -Swim: 10x distance covered
    -Bike: 1x distance covered
    -Run: 3x distance covered
  • Athletes will have access to the locker rooms, showers, drinking fountains, etc., but should bring their own nutrition / hydration as needed
  • Athletes should arrive at least 20 minutes prior to their wave time to check in, get changed, and get to the pool for the swim start (you must be on time to your wave start in order to participate!)
  • The pool is 24.6 yards long, and is a maximum of 4 feet and 3 inches deep

WTF is WTF!?

Learn the science behind this FFC group fitness class format that Members have been raving about.

 

WTF! (Work Till Failure) is Fitness Formula Clubs (FFC)’s newest group fitness class. If you’ve heard about the format and have wondered what it’s all about, you’re not alone. I mean, a name like that is sure to catch anyone’s attention! So, wtf is WTF!? Keep reading to learn how this class filled with heavyweight exercises has captivated FFC Members. And, you’ll learn why you should take it!

Okay, So WTF is WTF!?

WTF! is a 45-minute group fitness class that uses heavy weights to tone your body, strengthen your muscles, and increase your overall confidence. When you walk into the FFC group fitness studio, grab a few sets of heavy dumbbells: 1-2 of your heaviest, and 1-2 just a bit lighter. New to WTF!? Be sure to let your instructor know so they can better coach you!

The class consists of 8 exercises and 2 full rounds. The exercises vary by class. You may find yourself doing weighted lunges, chest flies, tricep extensions, bicep curls, overhead presses, and more; one thing you’ll never be during this class is bored! Each exercise starts with 45 seconds of your heaviest dumbbell, followed immediately by 45 seconds of a slightly less heavy dumbbell. There is a 30-second break between each exercise. Once all 8 exercises are complete, round 2 begins. The goal of the first 45 seconds is to work until failure; now you know why it’s called WTF!

How and Why was WTF! Developed?

FFC develops all group fitness classes in-house. WTF! was developed this Fall (2024) by Lois Miller, FFC Group Fitness Director. Strength training is a key ingredient in a healthy lifestyle, and has been gaining popularity in recent years as more people learn its benefits.

Between the right timing and a fantastic name idea (you can’t disagree with this great name), Lois knew that FFC Members would embrace this class when it launched! Using her decades of training and group fitness experience, Lois developed WTF!, a class where participants can strength train with the guidance of a group fitness instructor.

Why Should I Take WTF!?

WTF! is for everyone. Whether you’ve been training with heavy weights for years, or you’ve never picked up a set of dumbbells, you’ll benefit from WTF! Strength training during the WTF! class will not only strengthen your muscles, but it will also lean your figure, improve your posture, strengthen tendons and ligaments, balance out your cortisol levels, and increase your metabolism. Did you know that during a cardio workout, your calories stop burning immediately following the workout, however during a heavy strength workout (like WTF!), your body continues to burn calories long after the workout is complete?!

An even greater benefit of WTF! than those listed above is increased confidence. When you’re able to lift heavy weights, you’re able to complete everyday tasks like climbing stairs carrying children or backpacks with greater ease. You’ll feel incredibly accomplished as you begin to notice your body getting stronger. You’ll also find pride in the ability to lift heavier weights than you ever thought possible. And, you’ll have a LOT of fun while doing so. As I said above, WTF! is anything but boring!

Holiday InBody Challenge

Ready to stay fit and focused through the holidays? Join the FFC Holiday InBody Challenge and set yourself up for a stronger, healthier season! 🎄

What’s the Holiday InBody Challenge?

The Holiday InBody Challenge is designed to help you stay accountable, motivated, and progressing towards your fitness goals this holiday season. In addition to checking in to a club 8 times during the challenge dates, you’ll also be required to complete a minimum of 2 InBody Assessments and achieve a positive increase in your InBody Score. An InBody Assessment is a body composition analysis that measures a variety of health metrics beyond just weight, including muscle mass, body fat percentage, basal metabolic rate and more giving you a comprehensive view of your health in just 30 seconds. Each InBody assessment results in an InBody Score which is a numerical value that represents your lean body mass based on your height and weight, compared to healthy averages.

End Date: January 5, 2025

How It Works

1. Opt-In – To confirm participation, visit the ‘My Dash’ screen on the FFC+ app and select ‘JOIN NOW’ on the pop up banner that asks if you’d like to participate. Please note, you must opt-in between 12/02-12/08.

2. Visit The Club – Check in to the club a minimum of 8 times during the challenge dates.*

3. Complete Your First InBody Assessment – Visit any FFC location to complete an InBody assessment. When taking the test, please type in your FFC Account Number on the InBody machine (where it says Input ID) followed by your Phone Number to connect your account (see screenshots below). Your InBody score following your first InBody assessment is your starting point for the challenge (please note: you make take the InBody assessment as many time as you’d like throughout the challenge dates. Your InBody score change will be calculated based off your first and last assessments of the month).

4. Stay Motivated – Receive tips, workout suggestions, and nutrition support from FFC experts.

5. Complete Your End-of-Challenge Assessment – Prior to the end of the challenge, complete a final InBody assessment and achieve a positive increase in your InBody score.

6. Track Your Progress – Keep tabs on your progress in the “My Dash” section of the FFC+ app. Once you’ve completed a component of the challenge, the metric will turn Green on the dashboard. If you completed two InBody assessments and did not receive a positive increase in your InBody score, the metric will turn Red, signifying you have not successfully completed this component and will need to retest until you see a positive increase to qualify.

7. Celebrate Your Results! – Once you’ve completed both components of the challenge, a button will appear at the top of the Dashboard that says “Complete Challenge”. Click this to submit your results and get entered into the raffle!

What’s The Prize?

All participants that ‘opt-in’ to the challenge, check in to the club a minimum of 8 times, and successfully complete a minimum of 2 InBody assessments achieving a positive increase in their InBody score will be entered into a raffle to win a pair of lower level tickets to a Chicago Bulls game in January!

Drop off hygiene products at the club, and we’ll donate them to Nourishing Hope, a Chicago-native food pantry. Accepted donations include Shampoo, Conditioner, Bar Soap/Body Wash, Toothbrushes, Toothpaste, Pocket Tissues, and Toilet Paper (individually wrapped). Together, we can make this holiday season a little brighter for everyone.

Join us as we honor World Mental Health Day with “Unplug” – a 15 minute meditation class following one of our regular scheduled classes on Thursday, October 10! Learn how to calm your brain and body with simple meditation techniques. Experience an increase in self awareness, clarity and creativity.
